Happy Halloween!

Halloween in School

Today was certainly a different type of Halloween day at school but it turned out to be a great day. We had our school parade in the morning (link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/17y-mrV73Lf8wgLrvrCBpXpFprRUGfqNW/view?usp=sharing ) and watched movies, drank cider, and ate doughnuts after. The morning class chose the animated 2019 version of the Adams Family to watch while the afternoon group chose the 2019 Will Smith animated movie, "Spies in Disguise."

Wishing you all a wonderful and safe Halloween weekend.

School Halloween Eve

Thursday

Today was certainly a day of academic challenge. Students took the Topic #2 Math Test this morning and afternoon. The test was challenging and demanded a lot of focus and stamina. The students worked very hard and I am extremely proud of their effort!

Wishing you all a wonderful evening full of rest as we prepare for the Halloween weekend lol.

Tuesday October 26, 2020

 Tuesday

Today was one of those days of learning where students and the teacher kind of face off with each other and see just what the other is made of lol. We both did pretty well.

In math today we reviewed word problems, rounding, and estimating in preparation for our Topic 2 assessment which students will take on Thursday. This was another very challenging topic for the students. They are working hard.

In ELA we took a deep look into the cause and effect relationship that is found within text. We read a great biography about Mary Anderson, the inventor of the windshield wipers. We used this text to highlight all the examples of cause and effect that an author can use to illustrate their meaning.

Overall it was a great day! See below for a message about Halloween.

Dear Parents:

Good evening. I just wanted to take a moment to inform you about our Halloween plans here in third grade this year. Halloween celebrations will take place this Friday October 30, 2020. Students will be able to wear costumes to school to celebrate Halloween.

Here in class we will have an afternoon and morning snack time for both classes. When students are with Mrs. Myers they will do some fun Halloween activities and have a nice snack (this could include candy). The same will happen when they are with me (morning or afternoon) only we will watch a fun Halloween movie while we eat our snack. *Students may bring in some candy or a special treat/treats for themselves only. I will bring in some doughnuts for the students that will have been quarantined for three days. *Please don’t send in any snacks for the class unless you have already done so. Please consider focusing on a special snack for your child only for this day.

Happy Halloween!

Sincerely,

Mr. Lippiello

*Please see the below for the electronic message sent home earlier in the week by Mr. Criscone.

Families,

For obvious reasons, we will not be having a Halloween parade.  Instead, we're allowing students to come to school dressed in a costume on Friday.  We'll be hosting a virtual parade for families to watch!  Information on how to view the parade will be sent to you by Thursday.

Students should come to school in costumes that are comfortable enough to sit in all day, even if it's different from what they might wear on Saturday.  Students should not bring in weapon like objects of any kind.  Also, it may be very uncomfortable for children to wear a lot of make-up all day, for example, make-up that resembles a clown face.

We are asking children to come in costume that day.

Also, attached is a Safe Halloween Guidance letter put out by NYSDOH.

Have a great day!

Nick
