I just want to take a moment to wish all of my students and their families a wonderful Holiday Season. Special thanks to Mrs. Veeder, Mrs. Lippmann, and Mrs. Reed for all of their help at our party today.

Today's News 12-20-18

Thursday

Well we have one more day until the Holiday break and the kiddos really knocked it out of the park today!

Writers wrote excellent holiday stories using a prompt this morning. Students shared their stories with the class in front of a nice relaxing fireplace (digital of course). In the afternoon students completed their Unit #2 test and finished the day working on some problem solving holiday worksheets. Overall it was a fun and relaxing Thursday.

Tomorrow our classroom party begins at 1:45. I wish you all a wonderful evening!

Today's News 12-19-18

Wednesday

Today was a pretty solid day for being only three days before vacation and a major holiday. I am very proud of the effort I saw from the students today.

In the morning students took their Topic #4 math assessments (they did awesome!). Those have been corrected and will be coming home with your kiddos today. Students also took the second part of their ELA assessment this afternoon. Students worked hard to concentrate and use their knowledge and experience they have to succeed. We ended the day by coming up with some possible topics (at least three) to write our essays on, we read another crazy chapter of Roald Dahl's, "BFG," and we worked on some cursive writing.

I wish you all a wonderful evening!

Tuesday

Today was a very active Tuesday to say the least. Please believe me that I am saying this with love. With that said  I think all of us were trying our best today to grow our brains and keep our emotions in check at the same time.

This morning in math we worked on 10's facts as well as some multiplication calculation. Tomorrow students will be given a math assessment on initial multiplication. In the afternoon we began our Unit #2 ELA assessment and then learned about the structure of an essay. We finished the day building our new social studies geography lap books. We'll be working on those for the next week or so.

I wish you all a wonderful evening!.

Today's News 12-17-18

Monday

What a great day today was! Students worked very hard throughout the day. I am very proud of their effort!

In writing students worked on choosing a topic to start attempting to write an essay. Students worked hard on their writing and came up with some great stuff (considering I haven't even taught them the structure yet.). In math we continued working on multiplication and will have a Topic #4 assessment on Wednesday.

This afternoon we took some time to review some basic test taking strategies. Tomorrow students will begin day one of three days of their Unit #2 ELA test. This sounds like a much bigger deal than it is, however I really try to use these assessments as learning experiences for the state assessments that come in the spring.

All in all it was a great day of learning and being together. Tomorrow we'll be back for more!

Fun Friday

Today was a great day of learning and students challenging themselves to grow their brains. We played some serious Mathketball this morning and worked on and printed our poems this afternoon (some students will print on Monday).

I'll be here for awhile tonight for Santa so I hope to see some of you here. Please say hello as I'm passing out pizza (I'll hook you up with some good slices!).

I wish you and the children a wonderful weekend. Remember, report cards went home today in large envelopes.

Today's News 12-13-18

Thursday

Today was a great day! Students worked very hard on their poems in their writer's notebooks and some had the opportunity to share them this afternoon. Students who did not get a chance will share tomorrow morning.

I am certainly batting 1000 this week??? I sincerely apologize for not putting up a post yesterday. I have NO idea what happened but I completely blanked on it. I'll chalk that slip, along with forgetting to send the kiddos home with their H.W. on Monday as seasonal slips as it is a very busy time. If I forget something else you may need to call someone for help lol.

Have a great evening and enjoy the pics below from yesterday and today!

Tuesday

OOPS! Let me start off by saying I do apologize for assigning H.W. last night and then not sending that work home with your children. I am so sorry and I sincerely apologize for and confusion it may have caused.

Today was a great day. I'll let the pictures do most of the talking. We are learning about poetry this week (we'll be writing some poetry starting tomorrow) and reading some great poetry books. The kiddos seem very excited about it. Hopefully by the end of the week we'll have some printed poems ready to go home.

Have a great evening!
